The Secret Key to having an amazing best ever relationship with the Lord is to learn how to hear the voice of God.

When Jesus was here on earth he had relationships with people - he talked with them and interacted with them just like any of us do with each other. They didn't talk in formal, stilted, spiritualized conversations.

So where on earth did the way most Christians talk to God come from? We don't talk that way to each other - so why do we talk to Him that way? Because we think it somehow makes it more spiritual? Sorry, but I'm not convinced it does. I suspect it gets in the way far more than it helps.

But we do it that way because that is what we had modelled for us. We didn't know there could be a different way.

Jesus very clearly said in John 10:27, ''My sheep hear my voice...'' .

And in his final address to them before He went to the cross, He told them He would be returning to the Father. But even though He would no longer be with them physically, they were actually going to be better off because He was leaving. How? Because He was going to send the Holy Spirit, the Helper, to be with them, in them, from then on. 

What was going to be so special about that? Well, now they would have access to Jesus 24/7/forever through the Holy Spirit - every one of them. No having to wait for their turn to talk with Him anymore - they would have as full and complete an access to Him as they'd had with Him in person, with no limits.

Which I believe meant that they would be able to converse with Him just like they did in person - only now they would be doing it in spirit with the Holy Spirit - through the mind and thoughts, and whatever other ways the Lord would choose to manifest Himself to them.

But the easiest and simplest way would simply be to talk with Him just like they did before.

If you had told me this years ago, I would have looked at you in disbelief or bewilderment. I couldn't have imagined it possible.

I share how that changed for me in My Story. And after ten years now of learning more and more how to talk with God about everything, I very clearly do know that it is possible to talk with Him any time you want.
