I will be sharing excerpts from that journaling in my posts and pages here, so I wanted to explain how to recognize that.
I do my Journaling with the Lord and my Bible reading first thing in the morning. When I journal, I use a simple coil-bound lined notebook. I use two pens - one blue, for my own writing - and a purple one for what the Lord says to me. Like this:
When I journal on my computer, I use purple lettering, and brackets around His part of the conversation, and black for my part. Here I will also add a border. Like this:
You'll probably notice fairly quickly that our conversations don't sound very "spiritual." They are just like regular conversations between two people.
Sometimes we get into deep discussions, sometimes we have fun together, sometimes we get into heavy stuff. Sometimes we tell each other what we love and appreciate about each other.
Sometimes I've messed up and we have conversations about that. (And by the way, I have never once had any sense of judgment or condemnation from Him in those conversations!)
Sometimes we get into business or life stuff - He knows all about that! Sometimes He teaches me and gives me insights about His word - or about life or other stuff.
Basically, we talk about everything and anything. I never knew until God showed me how to do this, what it could be like to have a real relationship with Him. The result is that I love the Lord now more than I ever have. I love spending time with Him, working with Him. There is just so much about having this kind of relationship with Him that changes you and the way you do life. There's so much less struggle, so much more love and joy and peace.
This is the kind of relationship I can honestly wish for everyone to have!
