Do you ever feel like hiding from God?

Why?

Because you think He might be angry with you?
Or disappointed in you?

Because you think you're not worthy or good enough for Him?

Or because you feel ashamed that you just keep failing at things you know you should do and don't, or things you know you shouldn't do and do anyways?

Well, here's the thing.

Whether you see this as terrible news or great news depends on how you know God.

Here's the truth - there is absolutely nothing about you that God doesn't already know.

And as Psalm 139 says, there is also no place you can hide from Him.

There was a time when knowing that made me very uncomfortable. I did not want God to know all that because I was sure He was not very happy with me.

So I found it hard to come to Him. And when I did I would try to do it when I had been "good" in the hopes that I would be in His better graces.

Which, when you think of it, was just plain stupid. It didn't make sense.

But now, I know I am completely free and welcome to come to Him at any time - no matter what. And I am totally fine with Him knowing everything about me because it means I no longer have to hide or pretend - and what a load that has taken off me!

So what has changed?

Understanding what God has done for me.

First of all, my coming to the Lord to accept Him as my Lord and Savior was totally and completely His work in my life. He was the one who caused me to be born again. I was spiritually dead - and a spiritually dead person has no life to do anything spiritually true.

The only thing I could do - because He gave me the grace to do it, was to receive Him and the gift of His salvation - to become the new creation in Him that He always meant for me to be. It had nothing whatsoever to do with anything I had done or not done!

You are free to come into God's presence because Jesus did everything to make that possible - He paid the price for all our sin - every bit if it. So I am free to come into God's presence because my books with Him are wiped clean of any sin I have ever done. Yeah, I know. it can take a while to wrap your head around that - but that is the truth.

As you get to know God better, you will learn that you have nothing to hide, and you are always welcome!

So God wants us to come to Him in that freedom - that's how we can be open to receiving even more of His life from Him. And that my friends, is turning out to be one fabulous adventure!
